Become a better searcher and learn SEO free
In my SEO training programs I discuss 3 major pillars of SEO: websites, people and search engines. Knowing about how search engines work gives you a better understanding of the whole concept of search engines optimization.
The other day I came across search engine training by Google and decided to check it out. It was free and I could take it online, so I registered for it. What I like about this search engine training course is that it teaches people on tips and trick of how to use Google better.
Benefits of free SEO course
I strongly recommend you check that course out and here are some of the benefits:
- Knowing Google’s search tricks will help you be a better searcher.
- Understanding what Google can do will improve your general understanding of how it works.
- By learning these techniques you will learn how other people use Google to get to information.
- Seeing examples in this course you will learn what Google looks for in websites.
- This course will get you better understand the 3rd pillar of my training program – search engines.
The course is being offered right now (and I’m not sure if you will be able to register for it later). So, go to the search engine course page now and register for it. This video-based course consists of 6 classes and 2 exams. Remember that it’s free and you can take it online.
Good for searchers and SEOs
As I’m going through this course myself I see that it’s useful for both novice students. In lesson 2 Matt Cutts talks about how search engine works and why ads are displayed higher than others. Here’s this lesson below:
A few words on keyword research
This course also goes into the basics of keyword research (although from a searchers perspective). It doesn’t show you how to do keyword research, but it tells how to create proper queries. Here’s the video on the art of choosing keywords below from Google:
Notes on query composition
Here the class goes into some query composition insights. Daniel Russell, Senior Research Scientist, talks about what characters matter in the query and which ones don’t. There are all good insights when you conduct keyword research. Here’s the video on that:
Although I’m showing the videos from the course here it is still worth taking the course, even just to get the certificate. If your position in the company doesn’t deal with SEO or online marketing it’s a good idea to have a certificate like that to add to your portfolio of things you know and things you can do.
On the other hand, if you’re an SEO professional yourself, then I recommend you share this post / course with your clients or partners so they understand how search engines work.
This is a just a quick snapshot of the course and I encourage you to go ahead and register for it. Again, it’s going to be useful for both an SEO specialist and a marketing executive. It’s also good for general knowledge of how search engines work. I hope you take the opportunity and enjoy the process!
BTW, feel free to leave a comment or two on your experience with the course.
