Yet another “End of SEO” discussion

end of seo 520x209 Yet another End of SEO discussion

I recently had an email conversation with a gentleman. He’s got experience in his industry and is thinking of starting on his own. He wants his website to be the main marketing tool. So, he approaches me for SEO expertise. We went a few emails back and forth but one of the messages stuck with me to a point that I wanted to share our conversation with you. I’m quoting…

…issue is that google is moving in the direction of putting you guys out of business (trying to make seo obsolete) to force people to buy their adspace, so how much help will you actually be able to offer in this environment?

I wanted to share my reply to his question / comment because it made me proud of SEOs around the world (all the good ones, of course). Here’s what  my reply was…

10+ SEO insights from SEOmoz report simplified

seo insights 2011 2012 520x223 10+ SEO insights from SEOmoz report simplified

Every year SEOmoz, an authority on SEO, releases search ranking factors report. The report is a composition of data SEO insights and comments for SEO thought leaders. This report is available to anyone who wants to see how search rankings change over time and what’s ahead.

The latest report came out somewhere in May 2011, so there’s hope that the 2012 search ranking report is coming soon. In the meantime I wanted to post about key insights from the last report in simplified terms. These should give you some ideas on things to do to improve your site’s performance in search engines. Here’s the list of things:

Pinterest SEO: use Pinterest to improve rankings

pinterest seo 520x314 Pinterest SEO: use Pinterest to improve rankings

Pinterest is a new popular kid on the block of social media tools. As with many other social media profiles you get a profile page. In my case it’s pinterest.com/zagoumenov. However, this article is about search engine optimization and how Pinterest can help your SEO.

Online marketing software review

If you deal with multiple clients it’s important to have a good SEO software. You’ve probably heard about web-based marketing tools like Raven Tools, SEOmoz Tools. You’ve also heard about stationary tools like WebCEO (now also has a web version) and Advanced Web Ranking (AWR) by Caphyon. AWR web ranking software as well as its sister link building tool are the two I’d like to talk about in this article.

Advanced Web Ranking

Why I chose to use this online marketing platform? I’ve used a number of competing products but found AWR the most capable in handling my client management needs. There’s no one perfect online marketing software suite but this one has the most features I need to deal with my client’s sites.

How to SEO your social media assets

By now you probably have a number of social media profiles created such as Twitter, Facebook Page, Linkedin profile, SlideShare account, etc. Although these are not located under your domain name, it is important that each one of those profiles is properly optimized to be found on Google. This post is about ways to SEO your social media accounts and overall social presence.

First of all, anything you put out on the web is indexed by Google (unless your profile is part of a private social network that is closed from Google and Bing bots). So, let’s approach it two ways:

  1. Optimizing your social media profile for SEO
  2. Optimizing your social assets for SEO

SEO for social media profiles

There’s a number of great articles written on the subject of optimizing your social media profiles for better SEO performance in search engines. So, I’ll just reference the good ones here.

There is a lot of SEO tools out there. Choosing the tool depends on a task and a project at hands. You can select SEO tools by task such as keyword research tools. But more often you’d need a tool that can quickly analyze a website for main SEO elements. There’s a number of those too. But this time I’d like to share my experience with Craawler.
